Poetry Brothel London: Lord Byron's Secret Library

Poetry Brothel London: Lord Byron's Secret Library

Sat 28 Jul 8pm-1am

THE MAIN ROOM

Our last show of the season will revolve around the themes that have made Lord Byron a colossus of literature and western civilization as a whole. A man who embodies the myth of the poet/rockstar, inhabiting his own version of reality with panache and with resolve. Come escape the mundane and jump into his aesthetical bliss, smoke his decadence, induge in his excess, blow up his already bloated sense of reality, approve of his unapologetical romanticism, join his revolution, encourage his disorder, participate in his idealistic madness, experience his hyper-sexuality and all the sins which made the early 19th century the time of Byron and his comrades.

Expect passionate and compelling musings from our wondrous performance poets.
Take part in the wholly immersive experience of the private readings.
Buy the poet of your choice for a reading in total intimacy.
Enjoy our musical geniuses. This time fronted by Fred Snow.
Blow your senses away with our artistic burlesque.

Imagine beauty encapsulated in the literary expression of a powerful psyche. Imagine purchasing a portion of a poet's mental anatomy. Imagine being locked in a perfumed room with a spirit and a flesh of your own choosing, jaunting through the alleyways and corridors of an artist's consciousness. Imagine sexiness and poems dancing together like flames with the wind.

The Poetry Brothel is a unique and immersive poetry event that takes poetry away from classrooms, lecture halls and Ivory towers and places it in the lush, radiant and fiery interiors of a bordello. Based on the concept of the fin-de-siecle bordellos in New Orleans and Paris, many of which functioned as safe havens for fledgling, avant-garde artists, The Poetry Brothel presents a rotating cast of "poetry whores" each operating within a carefully constructed character. For a small fee, you can purchase a piece of the "whore's" poetical spirit and absorb yourself in the true nature of one-on-one poetry readings in back rooms and other secret and intimate spaces.
