On Wednesday 14th June 2017 Motherhood Reconstructed are celebrating their 1st anniversary with a panel discussion entitled, "Raising Excellence". This conversation will explore the reality of raising children to reach their full potential whilst avoiding the limitations of stereotypes and not being burdened by issues of racial bias.
Our panel are mum's that we respect, from different backgrounds with different experiences, from home schooling, raising mixed ethnicity children, being the parent of the only black child in the school year, same country but different cultures, raising a child with a high profile to organising everything to avoid your child falling into the trap of believing that negative stereotypes are a real depiction of blackness (I mean how do you even define people by the colour of their skin??).
Motherhood Reconstructed aims to add balance, nuance and realness to the underrepresented narrative of black motherhood AND can be enjoyed, appreciated and celebrated by ANYONE .
This discussion could be helpful if you are a non black parent of children with African / Caribbean heritage.
