Healthy drinks in Covent Garden? Dear Alice’s Vegan Cocktail Menu gets Curiouser and Curiouser.

Down the staircases of Covent Garden Members’ Club Library, behind the wardrobe, in our very own speakeasy Dear Alice, our mixologists have been getting busy. Like the questioning caterpillar from the inspiration behind our speakeasy: Alice in Wonderland, they have asked how and why and what and come up with a new CBD cocktail, bringing you all those health benefits, without skimping on the fun,  and not only that there are other vegan friendly options too!

By now you will have almost definitely heard of CBD Oil, the abbreviation of Cannabidiol, a naturally occurring compound found in the resin of the cannabis plant flower. With the therapeutic effects of the oil being endorsed by scientists, doctors and healthcare providers, this wonder oil hails from the cannabis plant but doesn’t contain any THC - the other active component of the plant that get the bad press!

The list of health issues that CBD is indicated in alleviating include but aren’t limited to; anxiety, insomnia, chronic pain including both neuropathic and inflammatory pain, which are notoriously hard to treat. Whilst we can’t make bold claims that our CBD Cocktail the 'Gin & Chronic' can cure all your woes. We can promise it is the perfect after-work wind-down that will have you feeling chilled in no time. A twist on the traditional Gin & Tonic with heady botanicals and the addition of CBD oil turns this tonic chronic.

Another vegan-friendly health highlight of the menu is 'The Lemon Drop,' a great example of a traditional cocktail which is having a renaissance. The Lemon Drop is a shake of vodka, Triple Sec and freshly squeezed lemon juice. Add one teaspoon of simple syrup, activated charcoal and shake vigorously with ice, then strain and serve in a martini glass, garnished with fresh, organic lemon peel, Not only is this lemon zingy it also holds detoxifying properties. Activated charcoal is used therapeutically to aid with kidney detoxification of heavy metals and drugs and also aids in soothing digestive issues.

Served ahead of, or following plant-based fine dining at sister establishment St Luke's Table, these vegan friendly cocktails are the perfect accompaniment after a trip to the theatre or wander around the National Portrait gallery, a two minute walk from Dear Alice. So, if you haven’t explored our secret speakeasy now is the time to take advantage of our ‘Tumble with Alice’ deal for £30 get two cocktails and snacks, a great way to get the party started with friends.
