SAINT LUKE'S TABLE

 

At LIBRARY, as you walk up and down the staircase to and from the Kitchen, Saint Luke (in stained glass) welcomes and bids you farewell.  Saint Luke is patron saint of artists, bookbinders, brewers, butchers and stained glass makers.

 

Saint Luke’s offers members fine dining with Head Chef Alessio Piras. 

Alessio’s culinary philosophy is adventure, innovation and tradition as he continues to seek out unique ingredients to use in traditional recipes to bring out real authentic flavours. Each food recipe is carefully curated and paired with a wine to match. All our menus use the best of the season’s produce and is locally sourced.

The restaurant seats 40 and is open Tues-Sat for dinner only. Non-members may reserve a table, however LIBRARY members are given priority at Saint Luke's Table.

The Hatch offers members an all day dining option. 

Inspired by traditional Italian pizzerias, the Hatch serves pizzas, salads, sandwiches, juices and smoothies. There are suitable options for vegans, vegetarians and meat lovers alike! Our dough is made fresh daily and we responsibly source the best seasonal ingredients, in order to bring you a diverse and exciting menu.

INTRODUCTION

The aim of our list is to offer a selection of well - made and interesting wines from small artisan growers that will complement our menu. Consultant Sommelier Charlotte Logan- Jones works closely with specialist suppliers to maintain an ever - evolving list of ethical, organic and biodynamic wines, from vineyards that promote an environmentally sustainable method of production.

 

ORGANIC AND BIODYNAMIC

An increasing number of wine producers are moving away from relying on chemicals in the vineyard and opting for naturally derived alternative methods of cultivating their vines. Organic wine has the aim of increasing the fertility of the soil by prohibiting the use of such chemicals whilst supporting biodiversity in the surrounding environment. Biodynamic wines take this concept to a more spiritual level, turning the vineyard into a living ecosystem, in which lunar cycles dictate the timing of various farming practices.

 

ETHICAL AND FAIRTRADE

Many vineyards and wineries are dependent on human labour. A number of tasks, such as grape harvesting by hand, can be physically demanding and strenuous. This can often lead to sub- par working conditions and a poor living wage for workers. Fairtrade organisations around the globe represent small farmers and empower them to improve working conditions and give them more control over income and supply chain.

 

SUSTAINABILITY

With the increasing concern over the wellbeing of our planet, more and more wine producers are adopting a sustainable approach to viticulture and winemaking. This incorporates principles which are environmentally sound, socially responsible and economically viable. This offers producers a level of flexibility and can include organic practices in the vineyard, conservation of energy and water, and use of renewable resources.
